ABOUT DAN FELDMAN

Prof. Dan Feldman is the Director of the Robotics and Big Data Labs at the Computer Science Department, at the University of Haifa.  He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University in the field of Computational Geometry and did his post-doctoral studies at the Distributed Robotics Labs of MIT, and the Center for the Mathematics of Information (CMI) at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

Prof. Feldman is a worldwide leader and main developer both in academy and industry for the research field known as core sets: a provably small and problem dependent data reduction.  While the theory is based on deep computational geometry, (current\modern) applications include Machine and Deep learning of Big Data, Robotics, Computer Vision, Cybersecurity, and many more.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Core-sets

This is our special sauce and expertise that is used in most of our papers for smart provable data summarization.

SHORT BIO

2004 - 2010
PhD
Tel Aviv University
School of Computer Science

Computer Vision

Unlike traditional heuristics, we aim for provable approximations based on computational geometry.

Post-Doctoral Studies:
California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
Center for the Mathematics of Information (CMI)

Deep Learning

Core-sets for both training data and networks.

Drones

Our autonomous Tello (<150 gram) drone carries only Raspberry Pi Zero and a monocular RGB camera.

Artificial Intelligence

Using core-sets for decision trees, regressions, and many others we boost the performance of classic machine learning models.
